Fight Videos and Highlights.
Main Event: Carlos Ulberg vs Dominick Reyes.
- Early the fight was a wary one, both men feigning and low kicking one another, as they sought to feel their way.
- Ulberg went on to strike his timing, and threw sharp jabs that pushed Reyes in-the-back.
- Reyes tried to advance; however, Ulberg countered and struck a left hook + right hand combination that put Reyes on the ground in Round 1 (4:27) to knock him out.
- Ulberg made the final ground attack to make it count.
Co-Main: Ivan Erslan vs Jimmy Crute.
- Erslan began well, alternating between combos and hitting to the legs and head.
- Timed takedown by Crute, scrambled and finally got back position.
- At Round 1 at around 3:19, he secured a neck choke (reverse can opener / neck crank style) and made Erslan tap.
This added credence to Crute in grappling and finishing fights fast.
Jake Matthews vs Neil Magny
- The momentum of the fight had its changes: Matthews received a takedown in Round 2 and threatened rear-naked choke / mounted triangle and pressured Magny.
- Courtesy of Round 3, late, Magny was able to secure a D’arce choke forcing the tap at 3:08.
- Memorable scene: at the end of Round 1, the referee nearly brought the fight to a halt because he believed that Magny was unconscious (his arm appeared dead in a guillotine). Magny objected and came through.
The victory added to the legacy of Magny in the welterweight division: the victory became one of the most successful in the history of the UFC welterweight.

Other Notables
- Round 1 Charlie Campbell (rear-naked choke) was submitted by Tom Nolan.
- Brando Peric delivered a statement in his first UFC appearance, defeating Elisha Ellison, and doing so in Round 1 (1:55) through KO.
- Colby Thicknesse vs Josias Musasa had one strange incident: when Musasa was struck in the groin, he requested the referee to take a break mid-match to have a pee (go to the bathroom) which was denied.
- The preliminary bouts too had good finishes and decision victories but none of them matched the activity of the main card.
Stats & Metrics
- The official event data (strikes landed, takedowns, control time, and so on) can be found through the UFC statistics page of this event.
- Based on previews Ulberg entered with a ranking of no. 3 (light heavyweight), Reyes with a ranking of about no. 9.
- Ulberg gets into the fight on an 8-fight win streak, most of those by stoppage, so this knockout was a continuation of his winning streak.
- The chin of Reyes was the concern of many analysts, who had been knocked out during the previous losses, so durability was a question going into this fight.
Analysis & Implications
For Ulberg
- This is an enormous addition to his title chances. The division is sending a statement by knocking out a previous challenger in the first round.
- He was patient, timed and finishing. He did not hurry, waited until he had his chance, then attacked well.
- Performance: This aids his story: not a streak, but a warrior who is ready to take on more. Ulberg himself had said he would give blood, teeth in order to make a statement.
For Reyes
- The defeat is a backlash in his brand of a comeback. His willingness and heart were demonstrated, but the finish is an indicator of vulnerabilities (at least in durability).
- It was not his resurrection (three consecutive knockout wins preceding this), yet this loss might require him to start anew.
Standouts & Future Watch
- Neil Magny reminds everyone about his threat up to the end of the fight, he is a dangerous man until the last bell.
- Brando Peric should be on the radars of people – debut in the UFC that is KO attracts attention.
- The win over Crute demonstrates that he has not completely lost his finishing ability, and grappling in particular, which would lead to fights with strikers incapable of resisting takedowns.
Ranking / Title Picture
- This victory puts Ulberg in better position to contend in a title eliminator or direct entry (depending on the shape of the light heavyweight division).
- The next light heavyweight championship Magomed Ankalaev vs Alex Pereira (UFC 320) will challenge the champion and the following actions of Ulberg will be crucial.
- Other people in the division will now view Ulberg as a genuine threat, which will make the encounters more difficult to him but also make him more marketable.
