In October 2017, Cam Newton, the quarterback of the Panthers, laughed at a female reporter, Jourdan Rodrigue, when he questioned her on a route question. His response was much decried as being sexist. Newton later did apologize saying that he had no intentions of being disrespectful.

2. Past Tweets by Jourdan Rodrigue (2017).

After the incidence at Newton, Rodrigue was found to have posted racially insensitive tweets in 2012 and 2013. She has since apologized about such previous behavior and even her employer the Charlotte Observer criticized the posts.

3. Jerry Richardson, Allegations (2017).

In December 2017, the owner of the Panthers, Jerry Richardson, stated that he would sell the team to allegations of workplace misconduct, including sexual harassment and use of racial slur. NFL carried out an enquiry and Richardson accepted to sell the team to David Tepper in 2018.
